Ive got my new redhat box working with domino 8.5 (using only ftp and ssh), and it all looks sweet, there were however a bunch of gotcha's (took me 5 hours {including 2.5 hour files upload}) so I'm currently writing a dummies guide, that takes nothing for granted, and includes all the little offshoots you need to install (change firewalls, create users etc), are there any requests?
