Annoying Web trend

Category None
Is it me, or has anyone else noticed, this trend of putting multiple page articles on the web when they could quite happily live on a single page? i can understand the logic to it, ie that more page views mean more add space, and it is a good idea (we all have to make a living), but they are taking it to far i reckon, if i can see the "Next" or "page 1 of 5" buttons without any scrolling at all, then i just close the article as they are taking the Mickey, in the end is self destructive, just like people not watching movies that have too many add breaks. (waves walking stick and mutters)

Gravatar Image1 - Here's my dirty little secret. I use a clipboard manager (named Clipmate). I hit the "print all" link and then copy the article text to the clipboard. Then I can read the whole article without all of the annoying ads.

Absolutely dead on.

I've been groaning about this for some weeks now - particularly sites like Extremetech are guilty of this kind of ad-whoring.

Its gotten so I won't click on a link to one of these over-bloated "top ten best xxxxx" lists where they put one on each page along with an intro, summary, and conculsion page.

If the bulk of the page isn't the content part, I won't view the site any more.

Gravatar Image4 - I recon you are right, and have the right way of dealing with it, the less money sites like this make the more chance the practice will stop
